Tree Pruning & Trimming

Pruning and trimming your trees can improve the health, safety, and appearance of your trees. Although forest trees grow quite well with only nature's pruning, landscape trees require a higher level of care to maintain their safety and aesthetics.

At Miguel's Tree Service, we can have an experienced service tech determine what type of pruning is necessary for your specific trees. Improper pruning can cause damage that will last for the life of the tree, or worse, shorten the tree's life.

Hedge & Shrub Pruning

Many times shrubs and hedges get too large for general landscape maintenance crews and homeowners to handle. Miguel's Tree Service is equipped to handle the larger shrubs and hedges through the use of aerial devices and special equipment tailored to work with heights involved in pruning and trimming large shrubs and hedges.

Tree & Stump Removal

Although we consider every option to preserve your trees, sometimes due to generally poor conditions, inappropriate locations, unacceptable risks, or other criteria, removal is simply the best management option. Some removal projects are quite routine, while others require highly technical skills including working around utility lines, complex rigging, or the use of large cranes. Miguel's Tree Service crews include arborists and tree workers with all the skills necessary to safely complete the most difficult and hazardous removals.

We are also equipped to grind out any size stump and assist with species selection and planting of a replacement tree where appropriate.

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding is performed using a stump grinding machine. The machine has a wheel lined with carbide tipped teeth that spins at a high speed and can cut/grind the stump into small wood chips.

Standard stump grinding is performed approximately 12 inches below the surface including any surface roots, depending on the circumstances. At Miguel's Tree Service, we are equipped with large and small stump grinders capable of removing any stump large or small in any location (slopes, elevated planters, tight areas, etc).

Root Pruning

Root pruning is similar to pruning branches, and is done when roots are infringing on an area where construction is to be done, or when they are causing damage or safety problems to sidewalks, driveways, streets, and the like.

A callus will form at the cut, and new roots will generate from the callus. A Miguel's Tree Service Tech can determine which roots to prune and how much of the root system can be pruned without harming the tree.

After root pruning is accomplished a product can be installed which will help prevent roots from growing further beyond a certain point. This product generally has a 10 year lifespan and can make an excellent alternative to tree removal, given the right circumstances. A Miguel's Tree Service technician can discuss your options and whether root pruning and a root barrier product will work for you.

Brush & Land Clearing

Miguel's Tree Service is capable of brush and land clearing for fire clearance requirements or simply a general clean-up for aesthetics.
