"Getting to the Heart of Heart Disease"
3/16/11“Getting to the Heart of Heart Disease” is scheduled in the “Current Health” lecture series. It will be held on Tuesday August 9th, 2011 at 6:30 pm at Pinnacle Hospital. This is a free educational seminar and is open to the public. RSVP to 219 616-2361
Heart disease is the number one health problem among both men and women in the United States. Coronary artery disease (also called narrowing of the arteries) is by far the most common form of heart disease. Coronary artery disease can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attacks (myocardial infarction.) “Getting to the Heart of Heart Disease” will cover the basics of coronary artery disease. Vijay Dave, M.D. and Harish Shah, M.D. are the presenters and will talk about the important factors concerning this type of heart disease:
• Who is at risk?
• What are the symptoms?
• What tests are done to make a diagnosis?
• What is the role of heart scans?
• What are the treatments?
• Can it be prevented?

"Hernia Repair- Laparoscopic & Open"-June 14th
3/16/11“Hernia Repair-laparoscopic & open. . . At Last!” will be held in on Tuesday June 14th, 2011 at 6:30 pm at Pinnacle Hospital. Dr. David Bleza will be the speaker for this free seminar which is open to the public. Board Certified General Surgeon, David Bleza, M.D., F.A.C.S., specializes in gastrointestinal surgery, skin/soft tissue lesion excisions, treatment of breast cancer/disease, laparoscopic surgery, hernia repair-laparoscopic and open.
There are approximately 600,000 hernia repair operations performed in the United States annually. While many are performed using the conventional “open” surgical method, many are now being performed using the relatively new, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical procedure.
At “Hernia Repair. . . At Last!”, attendees will learn from David Bleza, MD, about the different types of hernias and their causes. Attendees will also learn about treatment options including the two types of surgical repairs. "The Management of Pain" seminar May 10, 2011
3/16/11Learn about Interventional procedures - typically used for chronic back pain including epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, neurolytic blocks, spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal drug delivery system implants. Over the last several years the number of interventional procedures done for pain has grown.
Lecturer, Dr. Rajive K. Adlaka is double board certified in both Anesthesia and Pain Management. He is a nationally recognized expert in the field of Chronic Pain Management. Dr. Adlaka also serves as a volunteer for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians as an instructor, training other physicians in advanced pain management techniques.In 2008 Dr. Adlaka was selected to help develop Chronic Narcotic Guidelines for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. An article was published in the Journal Pain Physicians. He has also published numerous other articles as well as co-authored a book chapter in the textbook “The Management of Pain”.
Dr. Adlaka did his pain fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo under Dr. Marc Lema a renowned leader in the specialty of pain management. He received a special certificate in Cancer Pain Management from Roosevelt Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.
Dr. Adlaka has served the communities of Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area for 10 years

3/16/11Pinnacle Hospital is hosting a lecture on "Genetic Risks and Genetic Testing for Hereditary Cancer" on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 6:30 pm at Pinnacle Hospital. Dr. Marylyn Rosencranz will be the speaker for this free seminar which is open to the public.
Speaker, Marylyn Rosencranz, M.D. has been a Board Certified Radiologist since 1988 and has specialized in Breast Imaging since 1994. She has worked at Breast Centers in Northwest Indiana and Indianapolis before opening her own dedicated breast imaging facility here in Crown Point at Indiana Breast Center located in Pinnacle Hospital.

1/10/11Pinnacle Hospital announced that it will host 2011 “Current Health” lecture series. “Knee Surgery and the New "Mini-Knee" Replacement Procedure. . . At Last!” will kick off on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 6:30 pm at Pinnacle Hospital. Dr. Ron Clark will be the speaker for this free seminar which is open to the public.
Dr. Clark is an internationally recognized knee specialist who has invented medical devices used in knee surgery. He has authored 10 US patents and founded a medical device company to improve patient care. His current focus is on providing knee replacement surgery through a much smaller incision than traditional methods with a technique using a surgical telescope.
